Elementary Introduction to Creative Writing
This course will open the door to creative writing to elementary students. All students need to have the
ability to write independently, take correction on their writing, and be prepared to rewrite, revise, and edit
throughout the semester. This course will introduce world building in the form of collaborative, in class
work as well as through creative independent brainstorming at home. The homework is required and is
essential to progressing through the course during the semester as it builds on each other. Other topics
include note taking, outlining, diagramming, drafting, and group discussions.
Students are expected to be encouraging and respectful of everyone and the work that each one brings to
the class.
Poor/hurried/i-did-this-in-the-van-on-the-way-here writing will not be accepted. Students who do not
bring in the required homework or bring in unacceptable work, 3 times will be removed from the course
with no fee refund.
