Courses for AP

Built for Homeschoolers, Guided by a Private Tutor

Advanced Placement (AP) courses offer homeschool students the opportunity to engage in college-level academics, strengthen their transcripts, and potentially earn college credit. Our teacher-guided AP courses are designed specifically for homeschoolers, combining expert instruction with flexible scheduling to support success. These courses can be listed on transcripts as “Courses for AP,” but to receive official AP credit, students must register for and take the AP exam through the College Board at an approved testing site.

Mr. Avram E. Berman MAT/European History

Mr. Avram Berman grew up in northern New Jersey where he attended and graduated from Solomon Schechter Day School in West Orange. He then went on to attend Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania where he served as the Religious and Ritual Chair of the Hillel for 3.5 years and earned his bachelor’s degree in European and Jewish History. Avram then went on to gain his Masters of Arts in Teaching with New Jersey Certification in secondary Social Studies education from Montclair State University, and a Masters in European and Jewish History. Since completing his formal studies, Mr. Berman has been on 1 on 1 tutor, guest lectured at the college level and taught grades 4-12 at the religious school and day school levels. He has also led T’filot (Prayer) and High Holiday services and is fluent in both written and spoken Hebrew, ancient and modern. Furthermore, Avram has developed and taught the curricula for several courses and special programs. He has been independently teaching and creating virtual homeschool curriculum in history for the past four academic years.​

The History of Comparative Mythology: From Homer to Harry

 (A.P. Level History/Literature Elective): (Spring/Summer Semester 2027): $50/ Month

Ever wonder about the historical connections between the “Tales that Really Mattered,” and real history? Well in our first spring term together, you will wonder no longer! Together during this second course, we will explore the historicity, influences, and allegory behind some of the world’s greatest poets, intellectuals, and authors, and which historical events and eras, gave them the impetus to create their mythological and fantastical worlds. Throughout the spring, we will travel to the legends of the ancient Bible, the plains of Troy, Sherwood Forest, Camelot. We will embark on a voyage 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, and visit the Emerald City, Middle-Earth, and attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, learning the history behind works spanning literally from Homer to Harry. Your ticket to history and adventure begins this coming spring!!!


A Journey Through Time: The History of Ancient Civilizations

(A.P. Level History): (Fall/Winter Semester 2026-2027 : $50/ Month

Hello and welcome to the first entry in our five course progression, A Journey Through Time: The History of Ancient Civilizations. Throughout this first semester we will be discussing in detail the origins of human history, the foundations of our planet, and most specifically, the history of some of the world’s most complex and fascinating civilizations. Join me for a whirlwind tour of the ancient Bible, the Fertile Crescent, amongst others. Learn how some of the great wonders of the world were built, such as the Great Pyramids of Egypt, the Great Wall of China, and the Taj Mahal, the Parthenon of Athens, and the Coliseum of Ancient Rome. Find out how people lived, worked, played, and worshiped. Meet the glorious figures of the distant past, Moses, Kublai Khan, and Julius Caesar. I am so excited to guide you and your child along this path of learning, this coming fall.
