Engineering Design Lab

This is a dynamic, hands-on course for grades 8–12 that brings real-world engineering to life through creative, project-based learning. Meeting once per week for 28 weeks, this course leads students through a wide variety of engineering challenges designed to develop problem-solving skills, teamwork, and innovative thinking.

Throughout the year, students will:

  • Design and test cardboard furniture that supports human weight

  • Program and modify humanoid robots

  • Create magnetic levitation trains

  • Visualize sound through cymatics experiments

  • Construct hydraulic arms, water filtration systems, and more!

No prior experience is required—just curiosity and a willingness to explore. Every project emphasizes the engineering design process: planning, building, testing, redesigning, and sharing results.

The course culminates in a Capstone Innovation Showcase, where students present an original solution to a real-world problem in a science-fair style event.

Whether your student is a future inventor, designer, builder, or just someone who loves a good challenge—Engineering Design Lab offers a fun, supportive environment to explore STEM in action.
