About the Event
HudsonAlpha has become a national and international leader in genetics and genomics research and biotech educatio.
This trip is a high school (grades 9-12) level lab investigating the Genetics of Cancer (5 hours). Cost$20 per student (bring a sack lunch). We must have 10 students for this trip to make, but the cost is based on 15 participants. We are limited to 30 students! Purchase a ticket online to secure your spot! We must confirm by Sept 14th.
Investigating the Genetics of Cancer (5 hours)
In this lab-based experience, students will examine the genetic roots of cancer, compare hereditary and non-hereditary cancers, and use the HNPCC kit to trace a cancer-related mutation through a family. Students will use a family medical history to create a pedigree and select likely candidates for genetic testing.
