About North Alabama Homeschool Graduation
North Alabama Homeschool Graduation is dedicated to honoring the achievements of homeschool seniors through a formal and meaningful graduation ceremony.
Since 2023, our director and volunteer team have been involved in planning and coordinating homeschool graduation ceremonies for families across North Alabama.
Our mission remains simple: to provide homeschool graduates and their families with a graduation experience worthy of the accomplishment it represents.
We are honored to celebrate the Class of 2026 and look forward to continuing this tradition for years to come.

Graduation Ceremony FAQ
What type of ceremony will this be?
This will be a traditional graduation ceremony, similar in format to a public high school commencement.
Who can participate, and do I need a cover school?
Homeschool seniors from all homeschool groups, co-ops, tutorials, cover schools, and independent programs are welcome. This ceremony is designed to bring the homeschool community together for one shared celebration.
Where will the ceremony be held?
The ceremony will be held in the Auditorium at Wallace State Community College in Hanceville, Alabama.
Who will present the diplomas?
Parents may choose to present their graduate’s diploma, or they may choose for the master of ceremonies to present it.
A photographer will take photos of each diploma presentation. If parents choose not to present the diploma themselves, the diploma must be given to graduation staff at check-in.
Will there be a senior slideshow?
Yes. Seniors will receive slideshow submission information by email after registration.
What is the graduate reception?
Light snacks will be provided exclusively for graduates before rehearsal. This gives seniors time to celebrate together, meet one another, and enjoy a special moment with the students they are graduating with.In past years, graduates have shared how much they enjoyed this time together.
Will there be a valedictorian?
Some cover schools rank students and may recognize a graduate as valedictorian through their own program. Students are welcome to wear honors, cords, stoles, or other approved recognition items awarded by their cover school or homeschool program.
However, North Alabama Homeschool Graduation does not rank students or select a valedictorian for the ceremony. Instead, we will select a student speaker to represent the graduating class.
Graduates who wish to be considered should submit a speech in essay form. Submissions will be judged anonymously by a third party, and one speaker will be chosen to address the audience on behalf of the graduating class
.
Submission details and deadlines will be emailed to registered graduates.
When is rehearsal?
Rehearsal will take place on the day of the ceremony at 1:00 PM. Please arrive on time so rehearsal can begin promptly.
What color are the caps and gowns?
Becasue every homeshool family is different, Graduates may choose their preferred cap and gown color.
Students are responsible for purchasing their own graduation supplies. We have partnered with HomeschoolDiploma.com to offer a complete graduation package, including cap, gown, tassel, diploma, diploma cover, and invitations. Families are also welcome to purchase supplies from any vendor.
A special ordering link will be provided after registration. If ordering independently, please make sure to purchase a tassel as well.
Can students decorate their caps?
Yes. Students may decorate the tops of their mortarboards. Decorations must be G-rated and flat, with nothing raised above the hat.
Students will toss their caps at the end of the ceremony, so please keep decorations secure and safe.
What is the dress code?
All participants must wear business casual attire underneath their caps and gowns.
Athletic shoes, shorts, flip-flops, and jeans are not permitted.
Will there be a photographer?
