Senior Connection | This Week Class of 2027, let’s get senior year under control.
Welcome to the first weekly Senior Connection check-in. Each week, I’m going to post something practical you can actually use: a task to complete, a deadline to think about, a question to answer, or something worth doing before senior year gets away from us.
For this week, take 30 minutes and check these five things:
1. Look at the transcript.
Make sure every completed course, credit, grade, dual-enrollment class, and current senior-year course is accounted for. Don’t wait until May to discover something is missing.
2. Know what your senior is doing after graduation, even if the answer is “we’re still figuring it out.”
College? Trade school? Military? Work? Gap year? Entrepreneurship? Undecided is okay. But knowing what possibilities are on the table helps you know what deadlines matter.
3. Check testing.
If ACT or SAT scores may be needed for admissions, scholarships, placement, or personal goals, make sure you know whether your student still needs to test or retest.
4. Start one senior-year folder.
Digital or physical is fine. Put transcripts, test scores, scholarship information, application notes, accomplishments, volunteer hours, and important documents in one place. Future-you will be grateful.
5. Do one thing that has absolutely nothing to do with paperwork.
Take a picture. Go get ice cream. Start a senior-year tradition. Ask your senior what they actually want to remember about this year.
Senior year needs organization, but it also needs to be lived.
This week’s question:
What is the ONE senior-year thing your family feels least prepared for right now?
Drop it below. Your answers will help me decide what we tackle in upcoming weekly posts.
